Something that makes me happy: Fall is my favorite time of the year! We have so many fun things this time of year all the way through Christmas and New Year’s!

Something I’m thinking: I’m glad we went to the pumpkin patch today. The weather was looking iffy, but it ended up being perfect and the kids had a great time.

Something I’m hoping: I hope the weather will be nice next weekend for the State Fair.

Something happening around the house: The usual chaos of legos and art supplies strewn all over the house.

Something I’m reading: I finished The Storyteller and realized that I’m not that interested in reading fiction about the holocaust. I don’t think the book was bad, though I didn’t care for the monster story within the story. I started reading The Cuckoo’s Calling which is for our book club in several months. I was on a long waiting list at the library, and the book became available before I thought it would. I’m sure I won’t remember much by the time we discuss it!

Something Gabe is reading: Emperor of Thorns.

Something I’m watching: We’ve been watching Amazing Race, Survivor (great tribal last week!), Sleepy Hollow, Hart of Dixie, The Crazy Ones, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Elementary. We’re not caught up on all of those! Gabe will also be watching The Walking Dead.

Something I’m creating: I’ve been working on my October 2012 Disney photobook! I should be able to finish it pretty soon. It’s been so fun to relive those memories.

Something about both kiddos: We had a great morning at the pumpkin patch. The kids played in the bounce house, went through the hay maze and the wooden maze, the giant bounce pillow, the big slide, the corn box, the hay jump, the train, and the hayride. We each picked out a pumpkin and enjoyed funnel cakes and fresh lemonade. Cullen and I loved watching the pig races! Several people at the pumpkin patch wanted to know if Maddie and Cullen are twins. Cullen has almost caught up to Maddie in size. The kids have been playing together well lately. Both of them have been interested in building with Legos.

Something Maddie is doing (5.5 years old): Maddie seems to be enjoying school and is doing pretty well. She got her first report card this week, though they don’t evaluate too much in the first quarter for kindergarten. Her favorite special is art, and her least favorite special is computer lab. She apparently doesn’t like logging into the computer because she has to use her id number. She seems to have her id number memorized, so I’m not sure why she doesn’t like logging in. Maddie had rollerblading this weekend. She was a little slow getting started because her friend wasn’t there, but she did well. Maddie has been doing a lot of drawing and writing. She’s branching out with both of those activities. She’s working on sight words. We had a conference with her teacher, and she gave us some flash cards for 50 different sight words. They aren’t required to know all of those before the end of kindergarten, but I was glad she gave Maddie an extra challenge. She can read all of them, and she’s able to spell most of them. Her teacher will give her a new set when she’s mastered these! She has been bringing home Angelina Ballerina books from the school library. She loves having us read The Cupcake Club: Peace, Love, and Cupcakes book to her.

Something Cullen is doing (3.5 years old): Cullen still had a nighttime accident or two this week, but that does seem to be improving. He still throws some big emotional fits, but I felt like this week was maybe better than recent weeks. Cullen had a fun time at soccer with his new friend (and a coworker’s son), Ben. We’re happy he has a buddy in his class, now! Cullen loves Legos, super heroes and Star Wars. Cullen loves searching for Goldbug in Richard Scarry’s Cars and Trucks and Things That Go. I love it, since that is something that I enjoyed doing when I was a kid, too! Cullen loves looking at the Lego catalogs and asks us the names of all the minifigures.

Something I am struggling with: I still haven’t started my PT for my knee. I really need to do that, but things have been crazy lately and I haven’t felt like I’ve had time to get started!

Something I’m doing towards my goals: I’m getting that photobook done!

Something I struggled with: The weather this week was so gloomy that I was in a funk by the end of the week. I took vacation on Friday to work on the photobook, and that was just what I needed!

Something I’m looking forward to: I’m going with Maddie’s kindergarten class to the pumpkin patch for her field trip this week! We were supposed to get our new roof this week, but all last week was rainy, so I think that will be delayed. We also have the Halloween festival at work on Friday night, soccer and rollerblading on Saturday, and the fair on Sunday.

Something captured: Sliding with my babies at the pumpkin patch!
