Happy Anniversary!

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Gabe and I are celebrating our 2nd anniversary today! I feel like we’ve been married much longer than that…in a good way! Sometimes I can’t believe that it’s only been two years with all the things that we have experienced in the time that we’ve been married.

In the past two years:

  1. Most importantly, we have changed our lives completely with the birth of our beautiful daughter, Madeline. Aside from being a wonderful husband, I have learned that Gabe is pretty much the best father that I could have hoped for for our children. Maddie and I are two lucky girls!
  2. We have sold our old house and bought a new one. We love our house and both feel that this is a place that we could live for a long time (hopefully until Maddie is in college). This is our dream home, and I think it will be a great place to raise our kids.
  3. We have both experienced cruising for the first time. We loved our cruise to Alaska and are eager to take another cruise. I think we may have to wait a little while before Maddie is ready for that experience, but once she’s a bit older, cruises should be great family trips!
  4. Including Alaska, we have visited 11 different states and 2 Canadian provinces during vacations in the past two years, not including our state of residence or states that we had to pass through when driving from one point to another. Not too shabby! We hope to share our love for traveling with Maddie throughout her childhood.
  5. We have taken somewhere around 20,000 photos in the past two years together (this is not an exaggeration). Maddie has really ramped up our photo taking as we have successfully taken multiple photos of her every single day of her life so far. Of course, not all of these photos are stellar, but when you get enough quantity then you’re bound to have some quality, right?
  6. Gabe has worked at three different companies! He changed jobs about a year ago and again just a few weeks ago. He was presented with opportunities that he had to take, including the opportunity to work from home fulltime.

Whew, we’ve had a very eventful two years in our relationship! I’m looking forward to our future. I love Gabe more today than ever, and I feel so lucky that I can spend every day with him and our beautiful baby girl. I feel like I couldn’t be happier.

Nursery photos posted

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

The photos of Nursery Decorations has been posted. Catherine took some photos of me in the nursery (as well as a few of the nursery decor) when she visited for my maternity session. I took a few more to show the nursery decorations. We are very happy with how the nursery looks!! Once again, you can find out more about Catherine’s photography business at Catherine Keene Photography. Note that her photos are the good ones with her watermark (the other not-so-nice ones were taken hastily by me).

Nursery Furniture

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

We have a bunch of photos that need to be uploaded to the site. Hopefully, I will be able to get around to organizing them in the next few days. I posted the Nursery Furniture photos recently, but I forgot to write a post about it. After waiting about 3 months, the furniture for our baby’s room was finally delivered! Now we just need to get everything set up and decorated.

Nursery furniture

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

I thought I would post some photos of the nursery furniture that we ordered yesterday. We should be getting it before the end of the year. Good thing that we didn’t wait until the last minute to order our furniture! Of course, the baby won’t need the crib for the first few months, but I doubt we’re going to want to wait until then to go crib shopping. The experience was frustrating enough without a newborn! All babies love dinosaurs

Friday, July 27th, 2007

When we hired painters, we knew we wanted them to paint all the areas of the house with high ceilings, including the two rooms with vaulted ceilings. One of those rooms is the nursery. We wanted to go with a gender neutral design, so we decided to pick a pale yellow for the wall color. We figured that yellow would go well with just about any nursery design. We took a handful of paint chips to Babies R Us to help us decide on the right shade. We initially thought that the Lil Dino set wouldn’t be a good pick for a girl, but later decided that it would be suitable for either a girl or a boy. Why not? All babies love dinosaurs! Plus, look how cute they are! (more…)

Photo Calendar for June

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

I didn’t want to post the Photo Calendar updates until after we had made our announcement public. We had quite a few pregnancy and baby related photos in June’s calendar (and I suspect we will often have baby-related photos most months from now on!). So I wasn’t *just* being a slacker. I’m still pretty far behind as I have to get my July photos together. I have several batches that I will be going through soon, as I have mentioned previously…now that I have finished reading the Harry Potter book. In June’s calendar you’ll find positive pregnancy tests, the baby’s first stuffed animal, Gabe’s first Father’s Day, some of our new paint, the sale of the old house, a party and housewarming, and some other random stuff.

It’s Official!! Really!

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

At the end of June, we officially sold the old house! We officially have the money in our bank accounts, finally, whew (well, we did until we spent it)! So now we can talk about the things that we miss (and don’t miss) in the old house. Overall, I enjoyed the house in the almost 6 years that I lived in it. It was a great first house for me! (more…)

Our Spare Room Upstairs…

One of the reasons the unused upstairs room scares me in the new house…

Photos and more coming soon

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

I noticed I haven’t posted anything in almost a month, so I thought that I should at least write up a little post. Of course, I don’t have much to say other than “more details coming soon.” I did update the House for Sale album with a new photo of the old house taken in the Spring (instead of the end of winter with no leaves on the tree) and captions that were used in our marketing materials. The house is back on the market, for those of you I have told we sold it. We had some issues with potential buyers and their financing. Long story short, it’s back on the market and we’ve had a ton of showings. We are hopeful that we will get the house under contract and actually close on it before too long. (more…)
