Our upcoming trips!

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

We have added a few trips to our list for this year. We’re planning to visit Gabe’s family in Kentucky for the opening weekend at Keeneland in April. We missed opening weekend last year since Maddie was so young, so we are glad we can make it this year. In September, we are going on a cruise to New England and Canada with my parents, sister, and brother-in-law. Since our Alaskan Cruise, we have been interested in taking future cruises. We are very excited for the opportunity to take Maddie on her first cruise. We’re working on a few more travel plans and hope to have more to post soon!

Trips added and States updated

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I’ve updated the States section of the website. We had been on several trips (including our Alaskan Cruise) since my last update. I’ve also added three future family trips: Visiting Maddie’s Davidson Grandparents, Thanksgiving in Kentucky, and Early Christmas in Atlanta. I’ve been working on photos and hope to post some photo updates soon.

Happy Anniversary!

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Gabe and I are celebrating our 2nd anniversary today! I feel like we’ve been married much longer than that…in a good way! Sometimes I can’t believe that it’s only been two years with all the things that we have experienced in the time that we’ve been married.

In the past two years:

  1. Most importantly, we have changed our lives completely with the birth of our beautiful daughter, Madeline. Aside from being a wonderful husband, I have learned that Gabe is pretty much the best father that I could have hoped for for our children. Maddie and I are two lucky girls!
  2. We have sold our old house and bought a new one. We love our house and both feel that this is a place that we could live for a long time (hopefully until Maddie is in college). This is our dream home, and I think it will be a great place to raise our kids.
  3. We have both experienced cruising for the first time. We loved our cruise to Alaska and are eager to take another cruise. I think we may have to wait a little while before Maddie is ready for that experience, but once she’s a bit older, cruises should be great family trips!
  4. Including Alaska, we have visited 11 different states and 2 Canadian provinces during vacations in the past two years, not including our state of residence or states that we had to pass through when driving from one point to another. Not too shabby! We hope to share our love for traveling with Maddie throughout her childhood.
  5. We have taken somewhere around 20,000 photos in the past two years together (this is not an exaggeration). Maddie has really ramped up our photo taking as we have successfully taken multiple photos of her every single day of her life so far. Of course, not all of these photos are stellar, but when you get enough quantity then you’re bound to have some quality, right?
  6. Gabe has worked at three different companies! He changed jobs about a year ago and again just a few weeks ago. He was presented with opportunities that he had to take, including the opportunity to work from home fulltime.

Whew, we’ve had a very eventful two years in our relationship! I’m looking forward to our future. I love Gabe more today than ever, and I feel so lucky that I can spend every day with him and our beautiful baby girl. I feel like I couldn’t be happier.

Photo Calendar Updated for August and September

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

I’ve been falling behind on the photo calendar lately, but I guess that’s nothing new. I’m now caught up with both August and September. In addition to the photos from our Alaskan Cruise, I’ve posted photos from the jewelry party, some new shoes, a prize pyramid, part of my birthday presents, our baby, and yardsailing loot.

Cruise Photos are posted!

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Finally! Gabe and I have sorted through our photos, captioned them, and posted them to the website. Whew! Now that I’ve sufficiently covered the trip in more detail than anyone but us cares about and the baby only has a few more weeks of fruit and vegetable comparisons, what will I blog about? Hrm, I guess there’s always television… Enjoy the Alaskan Cruise photos!

Cruise Day 5 – Tracy Arm Fjord Scenic Cruising

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

Today was basically another “at sea” day but with neat scenery in the morning. We woke up early so that we wouldn’t miss the best parts of the scenery. Reviews that we had read said that this was one of the highlights of an Alaskan cruise, so we didn’t want to miss it! We woke up and headed to Deck 9 to get a good view, but then we quickly found out that it was raining. We didn’t want to stand around in the cold rain, so we went to the dining room to get a quick breakfast. It was only 7:30am, so we had plenty of scenic cruising left and the dining room had just opened. (more…)

Cruise Day 4 – Skagway, Alaska

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

We’re making progress on the photos (and on the detailed blog entries about the trip, as you can see). Some of the captions won’t be too hard…there are only so many things you can say about beautiful scenery! So…now onto Day 4, when we stopped in Skagway. We were excited about our shore excursion today which would be taking us to the Yukon. Woohoo! This was one of our favorite parts of the trip. (more…)

Cruise Day 3 – Juneau, Alaska

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

Today was our first port day of the cruise, and the only day that we were tendered instead of docked. This meant that we had to take a little boat from the ship to the dock. The tender process went fairly smoothly as they organized everyone with shore excursions according to shore excursion times. We were signed up for a shore excursion that involved a tour of the Mendenhall Glacier and an Alaskan Salmon Bake. (more…)

Added Alaskan Cruise trip report. We’ve booked reservations for an Alaskan Cruise!
