The other day, Cullen and Maddie were talking about classmates who have had recent summer vacations. Cullen told us that one of his friends just returned from the beach. I took that opportunity to let them know that we were going to be going to the beach soon with our friends Jason and Melissa.
Instead of saying, “Hooray! We’re going to the beach!” or maybe something about how much he likes seeing them, he starts giggling. Before I reveal what he said next, I’ll give a little back story. We had been to their housewarming party a few weeks ago, and being on a pond, they have a bit of a goose problem. Melissa and Jason had cleared out most of the backyard, but a minefield of goose poop remained along the side of the house. I had told the kids to watch their step and told them not to step on the poop that was everywhere.
So, Cullen’s reply to me saying we were going to the beach with Melissa and Jason was, “Hahaha! They have a lot of poop in their yard!!!” He giggled some more and said, “That’s so silly!!! THEY POOP IN THEIR GRASS!!!”
