Cullen’s Special Day

May 31st, 2011

When Maddie turned one, we had a special day together. I wanted to do the same thing for Cullen, but options are limited in winter. I decided to wait until the weather was nicer. So, we had our special Mommy/Cullen day a few weeks ago.

We started the day at the park. We then went to the post office to apply for his passport. We then had a special lunch with Daddy where we shared a fancy mac ‘n’ cheese. It’s not often that he gets to go out to lunch with just his parents!

Cullen had a great time at the park. Of course, there’s nothing relaxing about taking a 16-month old to the park! I chased him around while he climbed stairs and the big kid play structure.

He made lots of discoveries.

And said, “ball!” over and over about the huge concrete barriers.

He went down slides all by himself.

It made me nervous to let him crawl around the big play structure. I let him crawl through the tubes while I went from opening to opening to make sure that he wasn’t going to fall through the big gaping holes. He fell off the stairs on the way up the play structure once, but he was fine after a little crying.

A little girl kept trying to steal his snack. He was adorable sitting on the bench like a big boy to enjoy his snack!

After getting his passport, he fell asleep in the car. I let him nap a little bit before lunch while I sat in the driveway reading a book. Once he woke up, Daddy joined us for lunch at Noodles where we had a fancy mac ‘n’ cheese. Yum!
