February 6th, 2011Something that makes me happy: I filed our taxes, yay! We’re getting a bigger refund than I expected, which is good since I already spent over half of it!
Something I’m thinking: I’m thinking that staying up to watch glee isn’t the smartest idea given that Cullen will probably keep me from getting much sleep tonight.
Something I’m hoping: I’m hoping to get some sleep tonight!
Something happening around the house: A toy explosion.
Something I’m reading: I finished Rebecca! I liked it, and it wasn’t as hard to read as I had feared. It is VERY descriptive, so I had to skim in places. I picked up where I left off in Mockingjay, too. I think I remember mostly what was happening back when I started it months ago. I’m glad to get back to it! It’s been a little bit of a chore to read a print book versus the kindle. It has given Gabe a chance to read some on the kindle, at least.
Something I’m watching: I watched a little of the Super Bowl (commercials) and now glee.
Something I’m playing: We played poker on Friday. Woohoo! Gabe and I were both able to play (thanks to my sister for babysitting). I ended up getting second…not too shabby.
Something tasty: Cake scraps from leveling my cake for decorating class tomorrow.
Something Maddie is doing (35 months old): I can’t believe that she’s going to be 3 in two weeks. Yesterday, she wanted to nap in our “big, big bed.” I’m not sure whether it was a good decision, but we let her nap in our bed. She looked so sweet all bundled up in our covers. Today, she didn’t want to nap at all, though we did attempt another nap in the “big, big bed.” Today’s nap was a complete failure. She insisted that she was “not tired” and didn’t want to nap. At dinner, both kids were quite cranky and Gabe and I almost lost our last shred of sanity. Some days, Maddie does well without a nap…but other days, it can be a complete disaster! Maddie and I had lunch at The Loop today, and I noticed her coloring technique with the sheet they gave her to color. She has more purpose with her coloring and colored different parts of the drawing with different colors. I was impressed with her technique.
Something Cullen is doing (12 months old): Poor little guy has croup. I was hoping to make it until tomorrow morning so that we could take him to the pediatrician. After noticing some chest retraction this afternoon, we thought it was better to take him to Urgent Care. They gave him a steroid shot and want us to see the pediatrician tomorrow as well. I hope that tonight is better than last night. Poor guy has felt miserable for the past 24 hours. It’s so hard when your little ones are sick and you can’t make them feel comfortable. Before he got sick this week, he was practicing his eye rolling and the pout. I finally caught his lip in photos. He was doing it to get a reaction this time – so cute! A few times this week, we thought Cullen was going to start walking. He will shuffle one of his feet, but then he’ll get down and crawl. He will walk when we hold his hands and seems pretty proud of himself. Oh! And we tried to give Cullen a little bit of cheese this week. So far so good….
Something I am struggling with: Trying to find time to learn a new programming language and start a new project at work amongst a bazillion meetings and a division restructuring. I wrote a little “hello world” app for the iPad, so that’s a start.
Something I’m doing towards my goals: I’m baking my last cake for cake class. We’re learning the “Wilton rose” and creating our finale cake tomorrow. I’m also working on a fundraiser for Team B-Patrol. More to come about that!
Something I learned: Irregardless Cafe has a good number of tasty vegan menu items. I was prepared to eat my first dairy in months, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to select from nearly a page of vegan selections.
Something I’m looking forward to: Games night!
