The Sunday Somethings, 30may10
May 31st, 2010Something that makes me happy: Long weekends in the mountains with great friends!
Something I’m thinking: I thought about writing this yesterday from the mountains, but we were too busy having fun.
Something I’m hoping: I’m hoping to sleep well tonight. We had a great time this weekend, but we stayed up too late every night.
Something happening around the house: We’re home!
Something I’m reading: I started Devil in the White City which is July’s book club selection. I didn’t get very far and should probably start and finish June’s selection first!
Something I’m watching: We rewatched the first four episodes of Glee with the Leslies this weekend. I’m glad they liked it!
Something tasty: We were treated to yummy breakfasts at the Leslie Lodge this weekend. We had pancakes, french toast, and blueberry scones. Yum!
Something Maddie is doing (27 months old): Maddie had a great time with her best friend, Keira, this weekend. She and Keira had fun hiking in the woods, playing in the park, creating artwork, running around, and dancing. On Saturday, she was having so much fun that she refused to nap. That was partially our fault considering that we blew the lunch/nap schedule by going hiking at a nearby park. She didn’t nap well today either as we thought she’d sleep in the car on the way back. She only slept for 20 minutes which made for a very cranky evening. It’s clear that Maddie needs that daily nap and needs to stick to her schedule! Earlier this week, she said, “Mommy is my best friend.” How sweet!
Something Cullen is doing (18 weeks old): Cullen had his 4-month appointment this week and weighs 15 pounds, 9 ounces. According to our pediatrician, his weight was in the 60th percentile. His length was 92nd percentile and his head circumference was 98th percentile. He still hates the car as evidenced by our weekend trip to the mountains. He’s regressed with his evening sleep, but I hope that is just because we weren’t at home this weekend. He will sleep in our arms but doesn’t seem to want to sleep in the bassinet. On the plus side, he went almost 8 hours between feedings last night!!!
Something I am struggling with: We are struggling with finding a good time of day to travel with the kids. I’m not sure that such a thing exists right now.
Something I’m doing towards my goals: Nothing specific.
Something I learned: Maddie needs her daily nap and traveling any distance in the car with the two kids is a challenge. While we knew both of these facts prior to this weekend, they were reconfirmed for us.
Something I’m looking forward to: Hopefully seeing my parents this weekend.
Something random: When making Easy Oreo Truffles, don’t attempt to use fake Oreos.
Something captured: I presented Maddie with all the hair bows that matched her outfit. She wanted to wear all of them. Why not?
