Since our trip to Atlanta last August, Maddie has been saying “uh oh” quite frequently. She uses it semi-correctly most of the time. She uses it when she drops things onto the floor at dinner. This would seem to be an appropriate usage except she looks you right in the eye, holds her hand out with the object, and then says “uh oh” a moment before dropping it onto the floor. Sometimes, it’s hard not to laugh.

And then there are the times where she just wants to say “uh oh” just to hear herself talk and practice her sounds. On her very bad night a couple Fridays ago, she screamed the majority of the time that she was not sleeping (which was almost the entire night). We did have one moment where she wasn’t screaming, but she was staring at the ceiling and saying, “uh oh, uh oh, uh oh, uh oh.” I have no idea what that was about, but it made me giggle (though I’m sure part of that was due to sleep deprivation).
