Simple Woman’s Daybook, February 9

February 9th, 2009

My friend Ann has been doing these for several weeks, and I’ve been thinking about joining her. This is the first time that I have remembered to do it on Monday. I like the format of the posts, but time will tell if I have different things to say each week. So, here’s my first entry for The Simple Woman’s Daybook. I think I’m supposed to be doing it at the beginning of the day, but I just don’t see that happening for most Mondays.

For today…

Outside my window… the weather is beautiful, though a little cooler than the past two days. We’ve been taking Maddie outside for a little bit each day. I think the fresh air helps her with her illness, and at very least it makes her happy for a few minutes.

I am thinking… babies are hard, but sick babies are even harder!

I am thankful for… my awesome husband who is a very involved Daddy. It’s times like these last few days that make me truly grateful.

From the kitchen… Crockpot Sausage and Rigatoni. Surprisingly simple, surprisingly tasty. Maddie loved it again this time.

I am wearing… my pajamas since I just gave Maddie a bath a little bit ago.

I am creating… a few blog posts about the recent consignment sale and Maddie’s photo-a-day photobook. I’m excited about Maddie’s book. I have it up-to-date through the end of 2008. Sometime this week, I hope to get it updated through January. I’m trying to get my iPhoto library in order before sorting through 2009 photos. I am trying to weed through 12,000 photos from 2008 so that I can work on the new iPhoto facial recognition stuff.

I am going… to take Maddie to the doctor AGAIN tomorrow morning since her fever was 104 a little bit ago.

I am reading… not as much as I should. I am trying to read To Kill a Mockingbird by the end of the month for book club plus The Magician’s Assistant by March 10th for another book club. I haven’t really started either. I’m finding it hard to get motivated to read, and the last few days have been rough as I’ve been caring for a sick Maddie.

I am hoping… that Maddie gets better soon. She has been sick since Thursday night and has run fevers over 103 for the past 3 nights. Saturday night was scary as she spiked 105.5. We almost went to the emergency room, but the advice nurse caught us just as we were walking out the door. We got her fever under control with the nurse’s tips and took her to the urgent care in the morning, making our visit the 3rd doctor’s visit in as many days.

I am hearing… mostly quiet, except a few cries here and there from Maddie as Gabe is rocking her upstairs. She seems calm now.

Around the house… Maddie’s toys are everywhere! She’s been really into putting things into baskets or boxes and taking them out again. This does not yet translate to putting her toys away, but it shows promise.

One of my favorite things… our neglected Nintendo Wii, though we have been playing it a lot more lately. Recently, we have been playing quite a bit of Animal Crossing, when we can find a minute or two to play.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Read To Kill a Mockingbird (or at least get started). Sort through the rest of 2008′s photos, deleting everything from the laptop that didn’t make the cut. Getting those blog posts finished and scheduled to post. Go to the dreaded dentist to get my tooth problem looked at for the 4th time. Host a playdate with one of Maddie’s buddies this Saturday. Work on Maddie’s photo-a-day book.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing… She looked like she was getting better this morning, but she was back to feeling awful this afternoon. Look at that sweet wispy hair!
