Baby Mug Shot
October 10th, 2008
Gabe had a few days of vacation between his jobs, so Maddie and I joined him for two of those days. We decided to use that time to change my name on my passport and obtain a passport for Maddie. We knew that we both needed to be present in order to get her passport. I thought that the process of getting it was hilarious. It’s good for 5 years – she’ll be barely recognizable next year when she has more hair, much less 5 years from now! So funny! And then I was amused by the “Signature of Bearer.” Should we ink up her hands and get her to leave a thumbprint? Let her leave her signature drool? Get her to write her signature in mashed peas after dinner one night? (yes, I know, we’re supposed to sign for her, but it’s funny, right?)
Now, baby, you can go places! Next question will be where should we go… We are tossing around some ideas for a winter vacation. Maybe we’ll go to some island in the Caribbean? Gabe wants to go to Hawaii, but neither of us think that we’re going to be up for the long flights between here and there. Bermuda is enticing, but we’d want to wait until the Spring for that one. Decisions, decisions…
Isn’t it cute? So official!

That’s a pretty good picture for a baby passport shot.
I remember getting Mia’s, just earlier in the year — 4 years old! — and telling the post office lady that I would prop her up so she needs to hurry and get the shot in. Mia was refusing to sit still and get her picture taken but after waiting in line for an hour or so, I was not leaving until she had that picture and we could get the heck out of there!
