New books!
July 24th, 2008I know that this probably isn’t the best follow up to my last post, but I’m not giving up my book collecting habit! I do read quite a bit, and I tend to lend out books to friends fairly frequently as well. Today, Gabe and I went book shopping. Yay! I’m taking a break from reading Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult to write a few notes about the books we purchased for our home library.
I have had several people mention this novel to me, so it was on my list of books that I would like to read eventually. After talking to other members of the book club today, I believe that this is going to be our next book club selection. It’s our most ambitious selection to date at almost 600 pages. I’ll be tackling this one after finishing Nineteen Minutes (and I think I can finish tonight!). Gabe is interested in reading this one as well.
This is part of the Kushiel’s Legacy series that Gabe and I both have enjoyed. I’m a little behind on this series as I still need to finish Kushiel’s Mercy. I think I’m about halfway through that one. Gabe hasn’t started that one yet, but we both intend to get back to this series before too long.
I just realized that I have been spelling her name incorrectly all along. Anyway, I bought this by accident thinking it was the next book in the Twilight series, but then I had returned it before I even left the store. After reading some reviews today, I decided that it sounded interesting. I had not realized that the book is actually her first adult novel. I’m excited about this one, and maybe I can convince Gabe to try it, too.
I asked for some Teen suggestions in the bookstore, and this is one of the suggested novels. I like to have some quick reads in between some of my heavier stuff! I often enjoy the teen fantasy novels. This is the first in a series that sounded interesting to me.
This is the first of another series that I have had on my list to read for a little while. This one is actually in the Young Reader section. Hey, I like kids books sometimes, too. More “fantasy light.” When I was trying to decide which two Teen/Young Reader books to buy, Gabe convinced me to get this one since I had it on my list for a while and because he was somewhat interested in giving it a try.
This book has been recommended to me by several mothers. I was initially resistant to many of the attachment parenting philosophies, especially before I became a mother. I have recently realized that many of my leanings are in the area of attachment parenting. I decided to read the book that everyone talks about when discussing cosleeping and other attachment parenting topics. I really wouldn’t have expected to find myself buying this book before having Maddie!
