Cruise Day 7 – At sea

September 26th, 2007

We were sad that this was our last day, but we made the best of it! We loved getting our daily Cruise Compass which detailed the day’s activities. We carried a schedule in our pockets to ensure that we didn’t miss our favorite activities!

We started with breakfast in the dining room, and then we headed to trivia in the Schooner Bar where we met Chuck and Bekka. Our team won again, though we were disappointed that we had seen several of the questions at previous trivia sessions. Guess we played too much “Team Trivia!” After trivia, Chuck, Gabe, and I went next door to the Some Enchanted Evening Lounge where they were having ballroom dancing lessons. We weren’t planning to dance…we wanted to see our tablemates dancing! They had told us that they had been learning how to dance over the past few years and that they were going to the dance lessons on the ship. It was fun watching them dance. They were really good – better than the other participants!

Afterwards, we all went over to look at the formal photos from the previous night. It turned out to be a good thing that we all went together. We all decided that we wanted to buy the photograph from dinner, so we made additional copies. We also saw the cruise highlights video and discovered that Chuck, Gabe, and I were all on the video! They captured Chuck kissing the man’s head, and they had Gabe wearing lipstick. Ha! I was on the video a couple of times as I ran various things up to the stage for our team.

Next on the schedule was the poolside International Parade of Flags. In between various activities during the day, we visited the casino a couple times. The Parade of Flags was pretty neat. Every country represented by the staff on the ship was represented. They had over 50 flags!

We had a buffet lunch in the Windjammer and then headed to the card room to play a game of Scrabble until our scheduled bridge game with Bekka and Beverly. We played bridge until it was time for TV Tune Trivia in the Some Enchanted Evening Lounge. We joined forces once again with Bekka and Chuck. We didn’t know many of the songs, but we still did pretty well! We ended up coming in second place, which is pretty good since this was the largest trivia game yet with at least 20 teams or so! We were pretty excited about the “win.”

Afterwards, we watched a little bit of the ballroom dancing lessons so we could see our tablemates dance. Gabe and I weren’t planning to play in the Jackpot Bingo game, but we thought about going to root for Chuck and Karen…and then we decided it would be more fun to play than just watch! So we played our last rounds of Bingo in the theatre with a bunch of people for a jackpot over $5,000. None of us came close any of the five games, but it was fun (though more fun when you win!).

After Bingo, we played one final trivia game. This one ended in a tie between us and a team of ladies that we kept running into at almost every game. We had several tie-breaker questions, but either both teams got it right or both teams got it wrong. We decided to end the trip on a happy note and finish with the tie.

We went to the Farewell Show in the theatre before dinner which included ventriloquist Brad Cummings. They had a little montage of all the acts that played throughout the week. We wished that we had seen another show or two – we missed a good one from what we could tell in the farewell show!

Tonight at dinner, I wanted to make sure that I got a good photo of our waitstaff (you know, for the scrapbook):

Our entire table (along with Karen’s parents) went over to Karaoke Superstar Finale in the Some Enchanted Evening Lounge. We were sad that this was our last night, but it was nice to spend more time with our tablemates.

Our last towel animal was the cutest:

And that’s our trip! We had to leave the ship in the morning and were at our Seattle hotel by 11am. We had to wait a little while to check into our room, and then we grabbed some lunch at a cafe. We were pretty tired, so Gabe and I went back to the hotel so I could take a nap. I ended up sleeping a good portion of the afternoon. We then went out to dinner and then to see The Bourne Ultimatum. We had an uneventful flight the next day back to Raleigh. We really wished that we were back on the ship!!
